Time ferr a good ol' review

Interesting. The kick is kind of fat, but maybe you wanted that? Otherwise, I didn't like hats in the intro, because they were kind of plain and stuck out, sounded kind of weird. (they do that near the end as well)

At 2:11, the bass thing definitely feels like it's overpowering everything else in the mix when it's coming in. Almost too much sub and not enough everything else, I think.

There are many areas like this afterward, that feel empty in the upper mids/high ranges. Atleast until the second part, which actually sounds very full, with the pad, the pluck automations, and everything together.

Those are the main things that bother me with it. I think just some improved leveling/mastering is all you really need to work on, because otherwise, the song is pretty good.

PoizenJam responds:

Thanks man, this is extremely helpful. I have three sound systems and a pair of headphones that I use to aid with the mastering, but it's still new, hard, and often frustrating.

Any suggestions for what to do with the kick? I'm having a hard time with it- it's giving me a lot of distortion, and is causing some glitches when certain features are present in the sound system (like my Creative X-Fi's crystalizer) which accentuates a weird distorted sound.

As for the mixing being flat in some areas, I'm going to try to boost volume of the mids in the early bits of the song and drop the bass a bit, and take the HH volume down a couple notches.

Hmmmm...

The bass notes down go together half the time. They are conflicting and sound offtune. Bad chords, I believe. A couple examples would be at 00:07 and 00:09. Unless it's just my ears or a ton of distortion from the bass being to loud, there is something wrong there.

And the beat sounds like it's in a bandpass the whole time. The beat itself isn't bad, but the sounds used just sound not full, when they probably should fill more of the spectrum.

I was hoping for more than a bass and drums as well, and some more variation on either the beat or song arrangement (the beat plays basicly the entire song for example, no downtime).

So, that's my few cents. Hope it helps.

Hmmmm

That piano in the intro... definitely needs some more velocity change on the notes and sounds vey dull (needs reverb, more release or something).

Second, the bass sounds are strange but work for what you were going for I think (:

The beat is different, but I actually think it fits pretty well.

I think the biggest problem is that the whole thing still sounds fairly empty. Mayb add a widened subtle pad with white noise to help with that? Some sounds seem almost midi in quality as well, some higher qualty vst might help. xP

Otherwise, it's unique and pretty good, so keep it up :)

I love this chord progression

This is pretty damn great man. Diggin the basline as well. Everything flows very well and comes together great. Congrats on a great song. :)

ShootingStar responds:

Thanks! Glad you liked it :D

ShootingStar

Likin it!

The hats are a bit loud, but just barely. I feel like there could've been a bit more variation in the beginning. Otherwise, this is pretty damn unique and pretty awesome! Great job! :)

MrFijiWiji responds:

thanks, i appreciate the review :)

Hmmmm

Sounds funky as hell, but rthe high ebnd at the beginning is honestly pretty muddy. It bothers me alot. Otherwise, this is pretty awesome, though. Great bass, too, by the way. Really digging it.

Sounds amazing!

It's a freakin awesome song. The only problem is it's a little muddy. Honestly, I'd EQ everything more, to make sure the frequencies aren't in the way of each other. But otherwise, it sounds great ;D Keep it up!

aliaspharow responds:

Remastered! :D

i like it

needs more to it though. something more than just the bassline

Helth responds:

i knuww :3

I told you before and I'll tell you again.

This is absolutely stunning. That piano is so powerful. It really sets the song and gives it a powerful feeling. And it fits so well even when all the other elements are added. I'm not sure about how well the shift in notes fits in the song when its changes and I feel like it could be mastered a bit better, but besides that, this song is very well done. (: its a very powerful song and I really love how far you have come. Great job man!

Another masterpiece

Your progressive is always amazing. This is no exception. It's so clean and chill, I could probably listen to it for hours. Sure wish you sold your music so I could buy it :P But anyway, great song!
