Not too bad. Think the vocals work alright, so I'd say job well done on a first attempt at that.

If I had any critique, I'd say I'm not a huge fan of the some of the piano sounds as is. They feel a bit stiff sounding, so varying up note volume or finding higher quality samples might help in that regard. The piano also get lost in the mix a bit, so I'd be careful how much you're putting in the same frequency range without EQ/sidechain.

Thanks for the critique! I'll keep that in mind
I believe it is about time to change up my pianos so I'll see what I can find

I used to make IDM something like 10 years ago, haha. I may be a bit outdated, but I'll give some feedback a shot.

Did you synthesize the drums yourself? They've got an interesting style to them that sounds quite cohesive. I quite like it, although just a tad more variation/progression might do wonders tipping it just over the edge. That snare is especially iconic, which I dig.

That said, I'm unsure whether the other bits of the song blend very well with the drums or each other. While the sounds are made well, the composition is missing something. That main pad feels like it's missing a chord progression or root note that would give it the musical context I think it needs to stay interesting. In particular because it's a very simple 4 note loop that never really changes (even when the second pad does to a transposed version of the pattern). Creating a more ambient styled "stage" like this for the IDM drums to shine is a good idea in concept, but you may need to work on both harmonic variation within that stage and the progression of the drums, so that those drums can truly shine as intended.

I'll also admit, that ice-y bell sound doesn't do a whole lot for me. While it does sound cold, which was probably the intent, it also doesn't add a whole lot harmonically to that base sound you start with, making the combination of the two sound more busy and dissonant, rather than coherent. This type of dissonant sound can be used to your advantage if you really go all in, but I think it'd need more work and variation to really drive that idea home if it's what you're going for. As it stands, I think I would have preferred something that created a bit more harmony with the main pads you've created here.

No clue if that makes a whole lot of sense or if that's helpful to you, but good luck on your future music! :)

Thank you for your review! I'm sorry about this song being repetitive. I guess that I just enjoy ostinato melodies more than most other people. I make music for myself to listen to, and so I incorporate characteristics that I know that I will enjoy. I'll make sure to add in some more melodic variation in the next song that I make. I'll also take the consonance of my instruments into consideration (although that bell instrument sounds fine to me!). And yes, I did synthesize the drums myself, and I am honestly surprised by the fact that they sound so good to me.

Some chill as fuck music, as always! Great stuff man, keep it up!

DreamEater responds:

Thank you brother, I greatly appreciate it <3

I LOVE this! Amazing job dude ;D

ShootingStar responds:

Thanks so much! Make sure to check out the rest of the remixes! :)

Mhmm! This is definitely a nice groove ;D Definitely has a Halloween tone to it, haha. You pulled off 3/4 rather well, too ;D Good one man!

DreamEater responds:

Thanks Ben I appreciate the kind words :]

Such a smooth song, man! I'm loving these chords especially. I'm a big fan of the more minimal and progressive stuff (like you know ;D), and you've done that fantastically here. Great job on an awesome track and good luck in NGADM! :)

DreamEater responds:

Thanks very much Ben, I really appreciate the kind words!

Pretty cool.

Loving the melodies and harmonies. Sounds great to me. That synth that comes in at around 1:00 sounds very out of place though.

ListenToMyMusic responds:

Yeah I made all the melodies but that one, it's actually not a synth at all, it's just a sample. OCON did the bassline. Thanks for the review.

This shit's featured :D

Godamn >< Show me your ways. XD Ever since I showed you that EQ trick, you've been making masterpiece after masterpiece. Idk if that had to do with it, but damn dude, I'm jealous. XD Wanna collab?

aliaspharow responds:

Dude. Yes! I think when you showed me that it really got me thinking on how to make my music become cleaner and cleaner. So i can say you we're involved. I really appreciate the kind words.

Hmmmm

I'm loving this, especially that build. I think after the build it needs a "catchy" electro-like bassline, some chords, or some catchy lead. The piano has a good melody, roll with that maybe? Just something that grabs the listener in. And then extend the mix. Have a drop and another build and then that outtro ya got there. I think that'd help the song immensely.
Otherwise, I noticed at the start of your build, the sweep has sub to it. And it honestly hurt my ears a bit. I'd consider taking that out. It's at around 4:00 I think.
Finally, your mixing and mastering is still superb. Good job on that and everything else. :D

DreamEater responds:

Thanks so much for the review Pichuscute0!
I glad you dug this track enough to leave such a specific review :D
I definitely agree with you bro; this could use another lead during the build or maybe a good pad to solidify the background ambiance to make everything sound fuller... interesting :p

The build @ 4:00 was troublesome to create, but I really wanted to generate my own sweep bass effect for the big build up in this track.
probably need to eq the bass out somemoar though.

Thanks for all the help buddy!
Can't wait to read your next review ;)

Not bad...but

First of all, the mastering on this is superb. I love the quality. Also, the level of automation and detail as great. The biggest problems with this track are the bass that kicks in at 2:00 is a bit annoying and doesn't sound good. And the build right before that has little change to it. That was basically the only thing wrong. The rest of the track is great. So congrats.

DreamEater responds:

Thanks so much for your very helpful review!
I'll definitely have to look into fixing that bass issue @ 2:00 (I'm in the middle of working on a new Ep though, so it will probably take a while to get a second version posted)

But thanks to you I might actually make a second version :p

Thanks again for the review buddy!
